Section 8/ Housing Choice Voucher is a federal program that provides rental assistance to low-income individuals and families in the private rental market through the Housing Assistance Payment Program. This program is a win-win for both Landlord and the Resident.
Landlords have the ability to choose their Resident however if they select a Resident receiving rental assistance they are assured of a subsidy payment made directly to them.
The unit must meet HUD uniform physical condition standards. Inspections are done initially and biennially. The rental agreement will meet HCV program requirements for the Resident and Landlord.
